CBA awarded 35 BC communities grants in phase 1 of this program.

  1. BELLA COOLA VALLEY HEALTH SERVICES AND ACTIVE COMMUNITIES BELLA COOLA - Spring Alive: Raising awareness to Bella Coola’s first Fitness Room, its programming and partnerships.
  2. ACTIVE COMMUNITIES SUNSHINE COAST AND SUNSHINE COAST REGIONAL DISTRICT PARKS AND RECREATION -Trail Active: Promotion of local trails, parks and programs for individuals and families to get active and participate in active transportation.
  3. COMOX VALLEY REGIONAL DISTRICT AND ACTIVE COMOX VALLEY - Get Up, Get Active, Comox Valley!: Encouraging residents in the Comox Valley to participate in low-cost/no-cost physical activities.
  4. BC MINISTRY OF ENVIRONMENT YOUTH CLIMATE LEADERSHIP ALLIANCE WITH BRENNAN PARK RECREATION CENTRE - Bike to Work Week Squamish: Encouraging residents to be physically active and environmentally responsible by riding to work and school during this week and throughout the year.
  5. BC MULTICULTURAL HEALTH SERVICES SOCIETY - Cross Cultural Walking Campaign - Celebrating physical activity for newcomers throughout the year!: Providing awareness and opportunities for Latin American, South Asian and Afghan new immigrants to participate in walking and physical activity.
  6. CANIM LAKE BAND - Know Yourself – Respect Yourself – Be Your Best Self: Raise awareness to the benefits of physical activity and healthy eating.
  7. CITY OF CAMPBELL RIVER, PARKS, RECREATION AND CULTURE - Activity Ambassador Campaign: Enlist champions in the community to promote peer support in engaging marginalized adults with low incomes to get active.
  8. CITY OF FORT ST. JOHN - Getting Active… Staying Active: Support less active individuals to become more active by raising awareness to programs, opportunities and the Active Communities Initiative.
  9. CITY OF PENTICTON - Recreation Station - Get Inspired, Get Connected, Get Active!: Inspiring inactive individuals to take action on their health and wellness.
  10. CITY OF PRINCE GEORGE - Participate Prince George Eat Healthy Be Active: Raise awareness and educate individuals in the community to the programs and services that promoted physical activity and healthy eating.
  11. CITY OF QUESNEL - Spring Into Action: Promotion of the Active Communities initiative, physical activity events and workplace wellness.
  12. CITY OF REVELSTOKE - Bike to Work Week Revelstoke: Promote cycling as a viable commuting option to and incorporate physical activity into an individual’s daily commute for physical and health benefits.
  13. CITY OF ROSSLAND – RECREATION DEPARTMENT - Spring Into Summer Adventure Race: Promotion of a family fun race encouraging play and engaging fun fit activities.
  14. CITY OF SURREY, PARK, RECREATION AND CULTURE DEPARTMENT - Healthy Lifestyle Ambassador Program: Increase awareness of the benefits of engaging in daily physical activity and living a healthy lifestyle with the support of Lifestyle Ambassadors.
  15. CITY OF TRAIL - Trail Steps Out: Encourage the less active 35-54 year old adults to start walking and increase participation in physical activity.
  16. CITY OF WHITE ROCK LEISURE SERVICES - Active White Rock.com – South Surrey and White Rock’s one-stop resource for fitness, health and wellness: Public launch of the website to raise awareness to this one stop shop for physical activity benefits and local opportunities.
  17. CRANBROOK ACTIVE COMMUNITIES COMMITTEE AND LEISURE SERVICES - Fitness for Life and Fun in Cranbrook - Take Part and Show us your Healthy Heart: Promoting the benefits of and value of physical activity and the Healthy Heart program. Encouraging partnerships and engaging the public to become more involved in local Active Communities programs and events.
  18. DISTRICT OF SPARWOOD DEPARTMENT OF LEISURE AND COMMUNITY SERVICES - Sparwood – A Community on the Move: Promoting the opportunities for people in the community to become more physically active.
  19. FRASER BASIN COUNCIL - Bike to Work Week Prince George: Increase physical activity levels and engage residents to participate in Bike To Work Week who have never tried cycling before.
  20. ISKUT VALLEY HEALTH SERVICES - Iskut Kickstart your Heart Initiative: Healthier lifestyle through increased physical activity. Promotion of healthy lifestyle choices, nutrition and living smoke-free.
  21. LOOKOUT EMERGENCY AID SOCIETY IN PARTNERSHIP WITH VCH, HARVEST PROJECT AND CANADIAN MENTAL HEALTH ASSOCIATION: NORTH AND WEST - Connect to your health and wellness, Connect to you body, mind, soul and life: Health wellness and welfare Connect Day and Fair for the homeless and the at-risk of homelessness including disabled, seniors, ethnic minority group and low-income.
  22. CITY OF NEW WESTMINSTER, PARKS AND RECREATION DEPARTMENT - Helping Adults Get Active: Raising awareness to the benefits of being active and local opportunities in New Westminster.
  23. NORTHERN ROCKIES REGIONAL MUNICIPALITY Forever Fit in Fort Nelson: Increased Awareness of the benefits of and opportunities for physical activity.
  24. NORTHWEST BC METIS ASSOCIATION NWBCMA  - Let’s Get Physical: Promotion of bowling, slow-pitch teams and group activities to providing work-out buddies to inspire and motivate continued participation in physical activity.
  25. POWELL RIVER DISABILITY CLUB - Come and Play: Raising awareness to the sport club and programs targeted at adults with physical and developmental disabilities.
  26. REGIONAL DISTRICT OF NANAIMO, RECREATION AND PARKS - Active Adults in Oceanside: Promote community events and programs to raise awareness to physical activity opportunities.
  27. CITY OF RICHMOND - Walk Richmond - Connections: Raising awareness of opportunities for Chinese immigrants to connect with one another and their community through physical activity.
  28. TECK-TRAIL OPERATIONS Inspiring Wellness and Learning: Public awareness of the physical activity opportunities for employees.
  29. TLA-AMIN HEALTH SERVICES SOCIETY - Amish Gah – Let’s Go: Promoting walks, runs and jogs and incorporating awareness of mental, physical, emotional and spiritual components of holistic health.
  30. TOURISM WHITE ROCK - Ride on the Rock: Increasing the level of cyclists to reduce carbon footprints and promote the benefits of active transportation.
  31. DZAWADA’ENUXW FIRST NATION (Formerly the Tsawataineuk First Nation) - Moving for a Healthy Tomorrow: Promoting physical activities like walking and healthy eating to get the community participating in physical activity and healthy living.
  32. TOWN OF QUALICUM BEACH - Qualicum Beach Active Transportation Network: Raising awareness to active transportation and the local trail system.
  33. UCWALMICW CENTRE SOCIETY - Spirit of the Mountain Campaign: Raising awareness to the benefits of physical activity and the local opportunities.
  34. WET’SUWET’EN FIRST NATION - Wetsowet’en First Nation Chief and Council Walking Challenge: Promote participation in the Chief and Council walking challenge and physical activity.
  35. WEST MOBERLY FIRST NATION - West Moberly Fitness Challenge: Promotion of a 9 week fitness challenge and weekly physical activity community events.
