Linking Planning and Health

On Thursday September 10th 2009, BCRPA, Northern Heath, Smart Growth BC, BC Healthy Communities, Fraser Basin Council and Measuring Up the North partnered to deliver a workshop in the links between planning and health in Terrace, Prince George and Dawson Creek.

SFU City Program - Shifting Gears II Lecture Series, Transportation, Health and the Built Environment

Free public lectures sponsored by the BC Recreation and Parks Association, the Bombardier Foundation and the Active Transportation Lab at the University of British Columbia.

  • Improving the Built Environment for Active Transportation in New York City. As New York City’s Transportation Commissioner, Janette Sadik-Khan helped introduce protected bike lanes, pedestrian plazas, sustainable street designs and, most dramatically, closed five blocks of Broadway in Times Square to vehicles — while improving traffic flow!
