BEAT Community Planning Grants

Phase 1 ~ 2008

Building Local Capacity for Supporting Physical Activity

The following communities have been awarded grants between $15,000 to $25,000 by the Built Environment and Active Transportation (BEAT) initiative to take a lead planning and developing active transportation networks in their communities:

  • City of Colwood - Prepare inventory of active transportation assets, conduct assessment and develop overall active transportation plan.
  • Town of Golden - Develop active transportation plan.
  • District of Invermere - Develop active transportation network plan as part of a community enhancement plan.
  • District of Kent - Update District of Kent and Harrison Hot Springs bicycle network plan.
  • Regional District of Nanaimo - Review and rewrite OCP for Electoral Area A and incorporate an active transportation plan and implementation strategy.
  • City of Prince George - Develop a bicycle network plan.
  • Town of Qualicum Beach - Update the bicycle network plan.
  • City of Quesnel - Develop an active transportation plan.
  • City of Rossland - Develop an active transportation plan.
  • District of Sparwood - Consultation process to identify community needs, challenges and potential opportunities to improve active transportation in Sparwood.

Built Environment and Active Transportation (BEAT) is a joint initiative of the BC Recreation & Parks Association and the Union of British Columbia Municipalities. Funding is provided by the BC Healthy Living Alliance with support from ActNow BC.
